The Marathon Print

A medal shows you finished. This shows how.

  • The route, by pace. Every kilometre drawn heavier where you were flying, lighter where it hurt.
  • The course, on the city map. Fifty of the world’s great marathons are recognised from your file — London, Berlin, Boston, Chicago, New York, Tokyo and more. Say yes and your run is drawn along the course through the streets of the city, the landmarks named, every 5K marked.
  • The chip time, set large, with distance, average pace and the climb.
  • Your 5K splits as a strip, and the negative split — or the honest positive one.
  • The elevation underneath it all, and your title, date and a line of dedication.

Not a runner? The same print reads a ride (average and top speed, 10 km splits), a hike or a walk (time on feet, the climb, the high point) in its own terms. Have a photograph of the day? Add it in the Studio and the print becomes The Race Day Print — the moment above the course and your time, made for the medal frame. No data at all? The Photo Print sets your race photograph in one of six layouts — one with a slot for your bib.

Questions, answered.

Do I need Strava?

Only for a print of your own runs, rides, hikes or walks: connect it in one tap, pick any activity or any stretch of time, and the Studio draws from it. The Map Print needs only a place, the Historic Print a postcode and the Photo Print a photograph — no account for any of them.

Can I get an old map of my street?

If it is in London or one of twelve other British cities — Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Hull, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle, Nottingham or Sheffield — yes. Type your postcode and the Historic Print finds your street on the Ordnance Survey town plans, surveyed between the 1840s and 1910, and prints it as it was engraved, with the National Library of Scotland’s credit beneath. Does it work for cycling, hiking and walking?

Yes. Every activity style reads runs, rides, hikes and walks from Strava. The one-day print adapts to the sport: a ride shows average and top speed with 10 km splits, a hike or walk shows time on feet, the climb and the high point, and a race shows the chip time and the negative split.

Which marathons do you recognise?

Fifty of the world’s best known — London, Berlin, Boston, Chicago, New York, Tokyo, Paris, Valencia, Manchester, Edinburgh and forty more. The Studio spots the race from where and when you ran, and asks before it changes anything. Say yes and your run is drawn along the course on the city map, with the landmarks named and every 5K marked. Any other race still gets the full Marathon Print, and you can switch the map on for it yourself. See all fifty.

What if an activity has no GPS?

A treadmill session or a manual entry has no route to draw, so the route styles will say so. The distance-based styles — rings, calendars, rhythms — work from distance and time alone.

What sizes and frames are there?

A4 (11 × 14 in), A3 (12 × 16 in), A2 (18 × 24 in) and A1 (24 × 32 in), plus the medal frame with an 8 × 10 in print beside your medal. A classic wood frame in eight colours, a deeper box frame in three, an optional mount, or the print alone for a frame you already have. You choose the size in the Studio and the frame on the order page, with the price of each shown as you pick.

How long does it take?

Each print is made to order. Most are printed, framed and dispatched within a few working days, then delivered tracked. You will get an email when it ships.

Can I change it after ordering?

Right up to checkout, as much as you like: every print stays editable in the Studio. Once it is in production it is yours alone, so please check the title and date before you pay.

Is my activity data stored?

Your track never leaves your browser. When you order, the finished print file and a short summary (name, date, distance) come to us so we can print it; nothing else.
